have the best in life! But things certainly didn't start out that way...
A Wrecked Beginning
When Rick was only eight years old his family suffered a horrible car wreck...
They were moving from Texas to North Carolina when their U-Haul trailer suddenly “jack-knifed.” The car spun out of control, flipped over and came crashing down on top of them.
A truck driver saw the Josey family trapped inside the wreckage, slammed on his brakes and ran over to help them. And as he began pulling them from the twisted wreck one by one, he made an amazing discovery...
The Josey family was unharmed!
Rick's Dad just stood there on the highway in shock, looking at his wrecked car. The Buick was totaled, all the family belongings were inside and the vehicle was leaking gas...
Some young soldier boys in uniform walked up and offered to help Mr. Josey upright the vehicle. Together they managed to flipped the smashed car upright. Rick's Dad turned to thank the young servicemen, and he suddenly realized...
They were “not there.”
You figure it out.
People say when you see someone miraculously delivered like that, you should keep your eyes on them. God must have a plan for their life.
Well, Rick was soon to discover that reality…
The Quest For Answers
As a teenage Star Trek fan, Rick's mind raced with questions. Questions about science, reality and God.
Who is God? Why are things the way they are? How do we make life work? What is out there, in the universe? Is the Bible true? What is the meaning of life? What is faith?
Rick's passion was to work for NASA and help mankind venture out into space...
So after graduating from high school he enrolled at North Carolina State University and was on his way to becoming an electrical engineer.
Or so he thought...
But during the Spring of 1971 something happened. Something wonderful that changed his life, his career and his destiny...
Stunned in The Stadium
One evening when he was home from college, Rick decided to attend a James Robison Crusade in Lincolnton, NC. He went just out of curiosity. But that Crusade changed his life.
Each evening, sitting up in that football stadium, Rick Josey heard a bold young man sharing his love for God and life.
Rick had never seen anybody like James Robison. James was passionate, brilliant and funny. And he was on fire for God.
Rick decided he wanted what James had...
So on Friday night he left his seat up in the stands, walked down onto the field and commited his life to Christ. As he listened to the words of the choir's song, he agreed: I Have Decided To Follow Jesus...
That warm Spring night, standing out on that football field under the bright lights, something radical happened to Rick.
He sensed God's presence in his life.
Before, Rick had wanted to work for NASA and study creation...
Now he was sensing the presence of The Creator.
Rick suddenly realized...
God is my Father!
And God was calling him into a ministry...
Heading Out in A New Direction
Rick changed course. He enrolled at Gardner Webb College because he wanted to study the Bible.
But Rick was in for a rude awakening...
His "Christian" college professors did not know God's Word.
Oh, they knew their theology, but they didn't understand or believe the Bible. They said the Scriptures are full of "errors" and the day of miracles is past. Christianity is just a matter of living a good ethical and moral life.
Rick was stunned. And angry. He believed God's Word, but his professors didn't.
Where was he going to find the answers he was looking for?
On campus Rick met other young people who were longing for God's presence and power in their lives...
It was the '70s and the Jesus Movement and Charismatic Movement were sweeping across the United States. Time magazine ran articles about young people who were discovering that God was alive and still doing miracles.
Rick was not willing to settle for a "has-been" Christianity that dwells on the past. Where Christians just reminisce about the good ol' days when Christ walked the earth.
Neither was he going to be satisfied with just dreaming about a wonderful future when we all "get to heaven..."
Rick and his friends wanted God's presence and power in their lives now.
Right now.
And that's when another event changed Rick's life...
Meeting the Chaplain of Bourbon Street
One day Rick and some friends drove to the Charlotte Coliseum to hear evangelist Bob Harrington, the "Chaplain of Bourbon Street."
Bob had won multitudes to Christ in New Orleans and all across America.
And man...
This guy was amazing!
Bob was powerful, bold, and funny. Rick's kind of guy. Bob's theme was "It's FUN being saved!"
Yeah, his kind of guy!
Gutsy, straight-forward and having a blast as a Christian. One reporter wrote of Bob's "ever-present aura of JOY."
That's what Rick wanted, the joy of his salvation.
But he wasn't finding much joy in college...
College wasn't answering his questions about God or the Bible. Hey, Rick wanted more of God's presence and power in his life!
And then once again God intervened in Rick's life...
Power For Abundant Living
One day, during Rick's senior year of college, a classmate told him he had discovered an amazing Biblical research class...
A class which was helping people from all denominations understand the Bible. This class would answer Rick's questions about God's Word, to his satisfaction, and teach him how to walk in power.
So the summer after Rick graduated from Gardner Webb College he took the class called...
Power For Abundant Living.
This amazing Power For Abundant Living class was exactly what Rick Josey had been looking for.
The class proved to him that the Bible really is accurate in the original Hebrew and Greek texts.
The PFAL class also revealed how the Scriptures are self-interpreting, which removes the guess-work from one's Bible study.
And the class showed Rick how God uses figures of speech in his Word to emphasize things.
But most importantly, the Power For Abundant Living class taught Rick how to study God's Word for himself.
Rick was thrilled!
During the next five years he fellowshipped and studied God's Word with like-minded Christians who loved God and believed His Word. Unlike his college professors. Those five years were some of the best of Rick's life.
However, Rick later realized that many of his Christian friends were developing an "academic" approach to God's Word. Instead of living it.
So he parted ways with them.
And Rick began a independent quest for even more answers.
The Passionate Pursuit of God's Word
Rick couldn't get enough of God's Word.
So in 1979 he began reading through THE ENTIRE BIBLE...
Every month.
Rick has now read the Bible from cover to cover...
More than 260 times.
Rick wanted to understand what's going on in this world, and how to make life work. And who knows more about life than God?
So, since God has revealed himself to us in a BOOK, the Bible, Rick decided to go to THE SOURCE for answers.
And Rick discovered that God wants to bless us totally.
In every area of life.
God wants us to put on the armor of God and win big. He has made us "super-conquerors!" (Romans 8:37) That's positive motivation par excellence!
Rick has studied more than 1000 books about God and the Bible. And he also enjoys reading history, science, philosophy and other subjects. But..
Nothing thrills him like reading God's Word.
Reading the Scriptures is like picking God's brain, tapping into the mind of "Infinite Intelligence" (Psalm 147:5).
The Source of abundant living.
We'd be crazy not to!
God has made us His sons and daughters. He has given us rights, power and authority.
God has given us a handbook for living, an "owner's manual," called the Bible. And God's Word, as originally given to us in the ancient languages, is perfect in every detail.
College professors and seminarians who study "theology" (man's religious speculations) don't understand these things.
But Rick is revealing these truths from God's Word to hungry believers in a series of DVDs...
For more than 30 years now Rick has studied God's Word intensely. And his SUPER HEART Living DVDs will show Christians their FULL rights and privileges as God's sons and daughters.
Christians have been ripped-off in the area of "success." Many churches and pastors say that God "teaches" us lessons in life through suffering.
But the scriptures tell us God teaches us through his WORD, the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16-1).
The main reason people "suffer" in life (the problem of evil) is because they don't know God's Word (Hosea 4:6) and they don't resist their enemy, the devil (James 4:7). They have never been taught how to wear the armor of God and win.
The Bible plainly tells us that God wants us to SUCCEED in life, not fail.
It bothers Rick that "religious" pastors in pulpits are depriving God's people of their rights and privileges in Christ by failing to teach them God's Word.
Many churches are too busy promoting "worship services," cantatas, bake sales and bingo meetings...
And none of that is in God's Word.
These same churches fail to teach God's people how to be healthy, prosperous and walk with God out in the real world. Shame on them.
God is love and He wants the best for His kids. He wants them to succeed at whatever He calls them to do in life.
So, to make God's best available for his people, Rick undertook the task of...
