Is the Bible God’s Word, as Christians claim it is? Is this “belt of truth,” which is part of the armor of God, really truth?

Can God’s superheroes truly rely on God’s Word?

It is interesting that we even ask "Is the Bible true?" Because that’s the basic question Satan set before Mankind in the garden: "Did God really say?" (Genesis 3:1)

This question is of paramount importance in the cosmic battle between good and evil.

Is the Bible true?

Let’s take a hard look at the Bible’s claims and evidence for truth. Let’s journey into the Bible itself and see what the Bible says about itself and whether or not the “proof” is there to back it up.

Get ready for a thrilling ride…

Your Bible Claims To Be True

The Bible says “All scripture is God-breathed and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness…” (2 Timothy 3:16)

All Scripture is God-breathed…

“No prophecy ever came by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the holy spirit.” (2 Peter 1:21)

The Scripture writers were moved by the Holy Spirit…

“When you received from us the word of the message of God, you accepted it not as the word of men, but, as it is in truth, the Word of God, which also works in you who believe” (1 Thessalonians 2:13)

The Bible claims that its writers were literally writing the words of God. Listen to Romans 3:2…

“They were entrusted with the very words of God.”

Isn’t that amazing. The Bible claims it was written by men moved by the Holy Spirit…men who penned the very words of God.

Is the Bible God’s Word?

That’s what the Scriptures claim! The Bible claims to be God’s Word. That’s why the accuracy of the Bible is a reality, something you can study and rely upon.

Is the Bible true?

The Scriptures tell us that God does not and cannot lie (Titus 1:2; Hebrews 6:18). So if the Bible really is His Word, then it must be true.

This is what Jesus says about God…

“Your word is truth.” (John 17:17)

Jesus is verifying the “belt of truth” portion of the armor of God (Ephesians 6:14)

We are instructed to correctly handle the ”Word of truth
(2 Timothy 2:15).

God’s Word is true! It reveals the meaning of life, and answers your questions “Who am I in Christ?” and “What is faith?” And because God’s Word is truth, you can have positive motivation for real living! Sink your teeth into God’s Word and start living!

So we see that the Scriptures claim to be the truth. And they certainly seem to be…

The Bible is an amazing book…

The Bible’s writings were penned by some 40 different men in three languages over the course of some sixteen centuries!

Written by men of various occupations (judges, prophets, kings, soldiers, fishermen, etc.) living under diverse circumstances, spread across two continents.

Yet, despite the span of centuries and locations, their writings form one unified book! One code of ethics, one rule of faith and one means of salvation.

Is the Bible true?

Your Bible Seems To Be True

This “book of truth” is very straightforward and honest about things. For example, the Bible bluntly sets forth…

Men’s sins. The writers of Scripture tell of their own sins, the backslidings of their nation, and how an entire generation of them perished in the wilderness.

Military defeats. The Bible graphically portrays the failure of the Israelite armies at times, and shows how Solomon and his successors sent the whole nation into exile.

Messiah’s rejection. Israel rejected their own messiah and demanded his crucifixion! The Scriptures are quite blunt about this, and even show that John the Baptist had doubts at one point.

Messed-up disciples. God’s Word is truthful about the screw-ups of Christ’s followers. Peter denied Christ, and was later reproved by Paul for compromising with the Gentiles. Ananias and Sapphira sinned and died. Paul himself refused God’s warnings about going to Jerusalem and was imprisoned. And the epistles show us that God’s people were involved in jealousies, infightings and other problems.

So, is the Bible true? Think about this…

The Bible openly reveals the faults of it’s writers and their contemporaries. Now, no proud Jew in their “right mind” would have recorded all that stuff. Yet, they did because they were inspired by God, who told them what to write!

Is the Bible God’s Word? Is the Bible true? The accuracy of the Bible and its honesty in all these details vouch for its authenticity.

And consider this…

The Bible also paints a true picture of the following:

God Himself. While ancient religions, such as that of Greek mythology, gave us weird pictures of the “gods,” the Bible alone reveals the true characteristics of the Creator. It portrays him as eternal, infinite, all powerful, all knowing and everywhere present.  No man-made “religion” ever came close to this revelation. The Bible alone is “God-breathed” (2 Timothy 3:16)

The Bible also gives us a “true” picture of…

Man and his world-system. The Bible gives an accurate picture of man’s depraved heart and his complicity with Satan,  the “ruler of this world” (John 12:31; 1 John 5:19)

The Bible then gives us a true picture of…

Sin and Salvation. Sin is cosmic rebellion against the Creator and will be punished by eternal banishment from His presence. The Creator’s solution is to send Jesus Christ—who manifests all the heroic characteristics of the Old Testament characters. God’s solution for Man is total and complete.

So, the Bible claims to be true, seems to be true, and more importantly…

Your Bible Proves to Be True

One of the most amazing aspects of Scripture is the Bible’s fulfilled prophecies.

In the Old Testament God challenges false prophets to predict the future as he does (Isaiah 41:23). Only God himself can accurately predict the future, and he does…in the Scriptures!

The Bible foretells the history of the Jews and the course of the Gentile nations centuries in advance!

Is the Bible God’s Word? Yes.

Even more amazing is how the Scriptures foretell the coming of Christ centuries ahead of time. The Bible predicts events that all converge at one point in time in the life of one specific man, Jesus of Nazareth…

The Scriptures predict Christ’s nationality, his place of birth, the time of his arrival (the wise men knew this one), Christ’s betrayal, his silence before his accusers, his scourging, crucifixion, agonies and being taunted by his enemies…all predicted and prophesied in the Bible!

We will cover this in more detail in our Super Heart Living Rationality DVD. Meanwhile…

Is the Bible true? Fulfilled prophecies are shouting yes!

Jesus told his critics “"You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and these are they which testify about me.” (John 5:39)

Do all parts of the Bible testify to Christ? Yes! …

The Old Testament shows us Man’s fall and the promise of the coming Redeemer, Jesus Christ…

The Gospels show us the four aspects of Jesus Christ’s life…

Acts shows us the power of “Christ in you”…

The Epistles are the instruction manual for walking with Christ in you…

Revelation shows us the ultimate triumph of Jesus Christ and his people.

So, we see that all parts of the Bible give a true witness to Christ!

Is the Bible true? Yes!

We have seen the Bible claims to be true, seems to be true and proves to be true.

But there is even greater evidence…

The Ultimate Proof Your Bible is True

When you pray according to God’s Will (the Bible) he hears and answers your prayer! (1 John 5:14-15)

God backs up His Word!

Jesus says, “Most assuredly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.” (John 16:23)

Is the Bible true? Believe it and find out!

“According to your faith be it done to you” (Matthew 9:29).
